“There’s no way a Queen will fit in that bedroom”. After hearing this far too many times, I just went out and bought the stupid Queen bed, and after three weeks on the market…proved the naysayers wrong with an acceptable offer in less than week.
It was simple…stage your home and it not only sold for well over asking… but way more than the cost of the staging and incredibly quick with…more often than not, over and over…multiple bids. They say what’s west eventually comes east. In our many trips to Cali, we saw there were two very standard parts of every listing of every home for sale…the first thing was you called a realtor but before the realtor got involved, you called a stager! This was pretty much without exception. So, if you’re from Boston and graduating into a luxury sales market with an ever growing need for a staging service (that simply did not exist) what do you do??? Off the beaten path we roam, we shop, we poke, we explore…it’s what we do!
Staging Design Concepts was born. For the entrepreneurial minds of Steve and Brenda Bremis, the answer was…we’ll start our own! Staging, quite simply, had not come to Boston but the need was evident and the market changing rapidly. Our goal was quality, creativity, variety and affordability…we wanted to ‘bring homes to life’. We’re also pretty picky with a miserly touch and an eye towards the unique…so, this was no easy task! We had the spoiled perceptions of Frontgate and Restoration Hardware with a tight wad budget. Everyone wants the dream but they won’t even pay for the catalog. So, our humble beginnings started on Craig’s list…and we scoured, rejecting a lot! We did yard sales and always checked clearance. We traveled and our pallet grew as our tastes were refined and the current trends evolved. From Frontgate, to Restoration Hardware to Pottery Barn to an old seamans chest at a yard sale…our collection grew. From the sponge docks of Tarpon Springs to prints from our visit to Paris to artwork from Burbank California…our collection grew. From dressing up multi million dollar single family residences to a brownstone in the Back Bay to Somerville Condos to furnishing a home for DIY Networks Breakneck Builds TV show…our collection grew. From a few empty rooms to a garage to a dedicated warehouse…our collection grew.
